Road Safety Month: Bandipora admin organise awareness rally

Bandipora Jan 21: Bandipora district administration on Thursday organised a road rally to create awareness about road safety rules. The program was part of Road Safety month celebration.
Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais Ahmad flagged off the rally at Mini-Secretrait. Scores of students from different schools of the district participated in the rally organised by the ARTO Bandipora. The rally began from mini-secretariate Bandipora and concluded at nowpora chowk Bandippra before passing through different markets of the town.
While marching students carried placards and banners appealing to the people to follow traffic rules, avoid accidents, wear helmet while riding motorcycles, avoid jumping signals and over speeding, etc.
A series of programmes are scheduled to mark the month with promotional materials including banners, safety posters etc.
According to officials, this is the 32nd Road Safety month and the theme of this year is “Sadak Surakhsha Jeevan Raksha”.
Speaking on the occasion DC Bandipora Dr owais Ahmad said aim of organising the rally is to spread awareness about traffic rules and the importance of following rules in day-to-day lives. He urged students to act as ambassadors of road safety and help in creating awareness regarding strict following of road safety rules including use of seat belts and avoid using phone while driving.
