RightNow Times: In Pakistan, the month of Ramadan and the month of Shawwal are observed almost every year.
Earlier, the dispute was limited to Pakistan’s Central Route Hilal Committee and the Qasim Ali Khan Mosque in Peshawar. Has emerged as a party.
RightNow Times: However, the Federal Minister for Science and Technology had launched a new lunar calendar two years ago in order to resolve the ancient differences among scholars regarding the sighting of the moon with the help of science. Apart from ending the differences among the Ulema, it has certainly happened that Fawad Chaudhry is now in the news under this pretext.
And now this issue is not limited to the moon of Ramadan and Shawwal and this year Fawad Chaudhry has also included the moon of Zul Hajj in this list.
RightNow Times: On the 15th of this month, Fawad Chaudhry announced on the social networking website Twitter that according to the calendar of the Ministry of Science and Technology, Eid-ul-Adha will be on Friday, July 31, 2020. He also said that on July 21, the moon of Zul Hajj will be visible in Karachi and surrounding areas through binoculars while in many areas it will be possible to see only with the help of eyes.
Less than a week after the tweet, the federal minister shared a notification from the Ministry of Religious Affairs regarding the moon of Ziqad, tweeting that the Ministry of Science had announced the date of Eid-ul-Adha on July 31 this year. Once again, the Ministry of Science accepted the date of Eid-ul-Adha.
RightNow Times: The notification he tweeted only said, “It has been decided in the meeting of the Ruwit-e-Hilal Committee that the moon of Zikad 1441 AH has not been seen, so the first Zikad will be on Tuesday, June 23.” In this notification, there was no mention of the month of Zul Hajj or Eid-ul-Adha.
In this tweet, social media users tried to inform the Federal Minister that the Ruwit-e-Hilal Committee has announced the non-sighting of the moon of Ziqad. Eid-ul-Adha will be determined by the sighting of the moon of Zul-Hajj.
RightNow Times: A user named Saqib Bashir said, “The minister has done something wrong in a hurry. The month of Zul-Hajj will start a month later. Why is it so early to take credit?
Was Fawad Chaudhry in a hurry to take credit?
RightNow Times: Speaking to the BBC about his tweet, Fawad Chaudhry said, “I shared the notification with reference to Ziqad. Eid is on the 10th day of Dhu al-Hajj. Therefore, the notification is not for Eid but for the month. The dates on our calendars match the months of the sighting of the crescent. That’s why I said that all their dates are coming from our calendar.
On the question that if the month of Zayd becomes 30, will Eid-ul-Adha be on 1st August? The federal minister said that Eid would be celebrated on July 31 in any case.
RightNow Times: “We have given the calendar since last year and so far all our dates have been proved correct,” he added. “Even though the crescent viewers gave two dates wrong, we then released pictures to prove our dates and said they were wrong.”
Fawad Chaudhry said, “Now the quarrel is not over the Eid moon. Now the argument is that you have to see the moon with the naked eye and not use technology. What can I say about this argument? ‘
RightNow Times: Pointing to the Ruwit Hall Committee, he said, “You come from all over Pakistan by plane, then by car, then by climbing up and using binoculars.” You wear spectacles and then you say that technology cannot be used to determine the moon.
How long will this quarrel last?
RightNow Times: In response to this question, the Federal Minister said, “Unless the Federal Cabinet implements the lunar calendar of the Ministry of Science and Technology, the sighting of the crescent will continue.”
He further said that he was trying to ensure that at least the cabinet did not support this ignorant argument. “We have been trying for a year, but the Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Islamic Ideological Council are not making decisions. They keep files all year round. On Eid-ul-Fitr, they think for a week and then they forget.
The RightNow Times also contacted Mufti Muneeb about this but he only said that the notification is related to the moon of Ziqad and the decision of Eid-ul-Adha will be made by looking at the moon of next month.
RightNow Times: However, in response to the question of whether they have prepared the notification of Ziqad in the light of the calendar of the Ministry of Science and Technology and whether the two ministries have finally agreed on the dates of the moon, they did not give any answer. He hung up, saying he was still busy.
Reaction on social media
RightNow Times: Now who copied whose dates and whether the two ministries have agreed on the dates of the moon or not? We did not know this, but in the opinion of social media users, Fawad Chaudhry has shared the notification of Ziqad as Dhi Al-Hajj and from here he got an opportunity to entertain and criticize.
RightNow Times: Mohammad Owais Qadri sarcastically thanked the Federal Minister and said, “We found out today that Eid-ul-Adha is decided by seeing the moon of Zul-Qaeda 40 days ago. Until today, we thought that it is necessary to see the moon of Zul-Hijjah. Is. Thank you, Minister of Science. ‘
RightNow Times: A user named Mehtab Khan says that Eid-ul-Adha in the new Pakistan will not be determined by seeing the moon of Dhu-Lahj, but the date of Eid-ul-Adha will be confirmed by the announcement of non-appearance of the moon of Dhikad.
A user named Alia also seemed to agree with Fawad Chaudhry. “The Ministry of Religious Affairs issued the notification out of fear that the Ministry of Science might announce it again,” he said.
RightNow Times: “Everything else is based on scientific information, such as lunar eclipses,” he added. Spectacles, binoculars, TV, mobile phone are all scientific uses. And the drama of seeing the moon on Eid.
Ali Hamza Jilani says, “Let the heart be what it is.” But the words of the scholars of truth are more important to us. Because the meaning of the Holy Hadith is that the scholars are the inheritors of the prophets.
RightNow Times: Hamza Khan also seemed to agree with Ali Hamza Jilani. He said, “Fawad Chaudhry Sahib, we are the people who are bound by Shariah. When our Holy Prophet Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa said, fast when you see the moon and celebrate Eid when you see the moon. The lunar calendar has also been made by Arab countries, but it is necessary to see it.
Osama Zafar says, “Eid used to take place in Zul Hajj. It seems that change has taken place.”
