Putin assures the Prime Minister of Armenia the need to stop the fighting in Karabakh

Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed today, Sunday, with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan the latest developments in the disputed Karabakh region between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

The Russian Presidency (the Kremlin) confirmed in a statement that the call, which took place at the initiative of the Armenian side, dealt with the sharp escalation in Karabakh, noting that the Russian side expressed its deep concern about the renewed fighting between the two parties to the conflict.

And she continued, “It was stressed the importance of making all necessary efforts to prevent the further escalation of the conflict, and the most important thing is the necessity of stopping hostilities.”

This comes against the background of Azerbaijan’s military operation in Karabakh, with Baku and Yerevan holding one another responsible for the escalation.
