Italy agrees to receive migrants stranded for an average of 40 days

The non-governmental organization “Mediterranean” announced that the Italian authorities have agreed to receive a group of migrants stranded on an oil tanker in the Mediterranean for more than a month.

The organization added that the 25 migrants will arrive at the port city of Pozzallo in Sicily, southern Italy, for medical consideration, which will put an end to this “nightmare.”

On Friday, the migrants were transferred to the “Marie Juneau” of the “Mediterranean”, after they had been at sea off the coast of Malta on board the Danish oil tanker “Maersk Etienne” since August.

“These immigrants are going through” serious psychological and health conditions that make it difficult for them to stay on board the oil tanker, “said Mediterania.
