Security and local sources reported, this evening, Thursday, that a huge explosion occurred in the city of Aden, in southern Yemen
Yemeni media quoted a security source as saying that a violent explosion rocked the Mansoura district, northwest of Aden, a short while ago.
The source said that an explosive device exploded next to the wall of the central fruit and vegetable market in the Mansoura district, causing a violent bang.
He added that the bomb was placed inside a garbage dump in the hole leading to the Security Belt camp in the Directorate, without any casualties, noting that the explosion caused material losses.
Meanwhile, Reuters quoted eye witnesses as saying that a “huge” explosion took place near the central mosque in Aden.
The incident comes after Aden airport, which is considered the temporary capital of Yemen under the Houthis’ control of Sanaa, on December 30th, was subjected to a missile attack at the time the new Yemeni government reached it, in an operation that left at least 25 dead and more than 110 wounded.
The government held the Houthi “Ansar Allah” group responsible for the attack, while the latter rejected these accusations.
