Erekat holds intensive consultations prior to the meeting of the Arab League Council

The Secretary of the Executive Committee of the Palestine Liberation Organization, Saeb Erekat, made several contacts with a number of Arab foreign ministers, in preparation for the Arab League Council meeting to be held next week.

Erekat contacted the foreign ministers of Egypt, Sameh Shukry, Saudi Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, Jordanian Ayman Safadi, Omani Badr Al Busaidi, and Assistant Secretary-General of the Arab League Hussam Zaki, prior to the meeting of the Arab League Council scheduled for the ninth of September.

Erekat said that he affirmed during the telephone conversations with Arab officials, “Palestine’s demand for the steadfastness and adherence of the Arabs to the Arab Peace Initiative, and that no party will normalize relations with the occupation authority until after the Arab Peace Initiative has been fully implemented in a manner that guarantees ending the occupation and embodying the independence of the State of Palestine in its capital.” East Jerusalem on the 1967 borders, the refugee issue is resolved according to Resolution 194, and the prisoners released. “

Palestine will chair the meeting of the Council of the League of Arab States, next Wednesday, at the level of permanent delegates, after the start of the work of the 154th session tomorrow, Monday, at the level of permanent delegates.

The Assistant Secretary-General at the Arab League, Ambassador Hussam Zaki, said earlier that the meeting will discuss developments in the Palestinian issue in light of recent developments.
