Against the background of the Lebanese Prime Minister-designate Mustafa Adib’s apology for forming the government, Presidents Michel Aoun and Nabih Berri expressed their firm commitment to the French initiative regarding their countries
In a statement, the Lebanese Presidency confirmed that Aoun accepted the letter of apology that Adeeb presented to him and wished him success and thanked him for the efforts he made, noting that the meeting between them, which was held today in Baabda Palace, dealt with the difficulties in the process of forming the government based on the French initiative.
The statement continued: “President Aoun considered that this initiative launched by French President Emmanuel Macron during his visit to Lebanon on the first of this month is still continuing and received all support from him, according to the principles announced by the French President.”
For his part, Speaker Berri, in a statement issued by his media office, expressed the Lebanese parliamentarians ’firm commitment to Macron’s initiative, saying:“ No one adheres to the French initiative as much as we adhered to it, but there are those who drowned it in contradiction to all established principles. ”
