72nd Republic Day celebrated with enthusiasm across Bandipora district

DC Bandipora, Dr Owais Ahmad unfurled Tricolor, took salute at March past

BANDIPORA, JAN 26  : The main function of 72nd  Republic Day was held at SK Stadium Bandipora where Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Dr Owais unfurled the flag and inspected the parade. SSP, Bandipora, Rahul Malik, ADC, Bandipora, Zahoor Ahmad Mir, Joint Director, Planning, Imtiyaz Ahmad, officers of civil administration, police, army, besides Panchayat representatives were present on the occasion. 

The march-past was presented by the contingents of CRPF, JK Executive Police, JKP Womens wing, SPOs, Fire and Emergency Services, NCC cadets, Home Guards, Youth Services and Sports and students from different schools also took part in the event.

Addressing the gathering, the DC Bandipora highlighted the importance of the day and highlighted the achievements registered in the district.  He said the current financial year witnessed major developmental activities in the district despite major challenges of COVID19 pandemic. He said the people in unison bravely fought the challenges of the pandemic and lauded the efforts of the frontline workers to help in fighting the pandemic besides hailing the cooperation of the people in tackling the pandemic.

DC Bandipora congratulated people of Bandipora over the successful and peaceful conduct of DDC Elections, Panchayat and Municipal By-elections and for having in place three tiers Panchayat Raj System in the district. He hailed people for turning up in large numbers to participate in the elections despite harsh weather conditions. 

Dr Owais made a special mention of Back to village Programme, My Town-My Pride, Block Diwas and other programmes wherein focus was laid on grievance redressal of the people. He said through these programmes, the administration reached out to the people at their doorsteps to listen to their grievances. He said works worth Rs 10 lakhs were taken up in each Panchayat while Works of Rs 50 Lacs were taken up in Municipal Committees and Rs 1 Cr spent in Municipal Council Bandipora under these programmes.  

He said there was a major development in Health Sector by making the much awaited District Hospital functional at new complex constructed at the cost of Rs 35 Cr after a long wait. He said works are  in progress in the District Hospital to improve its standards so that people  receive best healthcare at doorstep. He said besides this PHC Tregam and NTPHC Nowgam were also made functional that helped in improving the healthcare system in the district. He said major enrollment drive has been launched to enroll the people in Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY) SEHAT scheme to get free treatment in designated hospitals across the country.

DC Bandipora said the administration macadamized a record 115 Kilometers length of roads this year that redressed the grievance of people.  He lauded the efforts of the R&B department, Mechanical Engineering Department, PMGSY, Municipal Committees, PDD and PHE for prompt and proactive role in clearing roads during recent snowfall.

 He said besides this several initiatives has been taken to augment the infrastructure of schools and colleges by face-lifting the classrooms, improving facilities at schools besides upgrading libraries, laboratories and introducing smart classrooms. He said Gujjar Bakerwal Hostel is coming up at the cost of Rs 3.25 Cr besides polytechnic College coming up at the cost of Rs 19 cr. He said lecture rooms have also been constructed at GDC Bandipora. 

Dr Owais said the district administration is also developing sports infrastructure across the district to provide a platform to the youngsters to showcase their talent in sports. He said Rural Development Department is developing play fields in every village besides Youth Services and Sports organizing tournaments in different sports. He said indoor stadium was constructed at Sumbal at the cost of Rs 5 Cr this year. Deputy Commissioner highlighted the Wullar Conservation project and said the work is in full swing to restore the lost glory of the Wullar Lake. DC Bandipora said a Solid Waste Management Plant and Medical Waste Management Plant is to be installed soon in the district.

He said this year the district administration was able to augment and further strengthen the mobile and internet connectivity in remote border villages of Gurez and Tulail by installing mobile towers. He said the administration also doubled approved load of Helicopter sorties to Gurez and Tulail during winters when surface traffic remain affected owing to heavy snowfall.

Later students presented several cultural programmes that enthralled the audience who huge appreciated the performers by huge applauses. For the first time, 3rd Battalion CRPF presented a Punjabi Bangra and JK Police showcased Martial Art performance that received a huge appreciation from the audience.Middle School Lankreshipora, Middle School Branch Bandipora and Higher Secondary School Aragam bagged the first three positions respectively for presenting cultural programmes. High School Bagh Bandipora, Higher Secondary Nadihal and High School Qazipora bagged first three positions for presenting best March Past while in uniformed contingents, CRPF 3rd battalion, JK Executive Police and IRP 21 battalion secured first three positions respectively. In-Charge Cultural Education Wing Arsullah Habib conducted the programme and was designated as dice in-charge on the occasion.’

Additional Deputy Commissioner Bandipora Zahoor Ahmad Mir unfurled the tricolor at Mini Secretariat Bandipora. On the occasion all senior officers of the district including Joint Director Planning Imtiyaz Ahmad, District Information Officer Jehangeer Ahmad and other senior officers were present. Similar programs were also held across the district at Sub-Divisional level in Gurez and Sumbal, wherein Chief Guests unfurled the national flag and took salute on the march past. Colorful cultural programmes were presented by School Children.
